During a two week stay in North Carolina a spent many hours traveling the roads and looking for shoot locations. On the day I made this photograph I had almost decided it would be best to stay in the hotel and take care of a some emails, web updates etc etc. The fog was so darn thick that morning I actually had to turn off of the Blue Ridge Parkway before I got in trouble. As I made my way back down into the valley I realized I had been fortunate and turned off at just the right time when I came upon a this horse grazing in the field. At first I just stopped to take a break from the drive and watch but I soon began to notice the beauty of the distant trees silhouetted against the bright foggy sky, old barbed wire fence, and a slight hint of the outbuildings all in the background. This was about as perfect as it gets for a early morning graze.
